DIVERSIONS INTERNATIONAL
SHORT FILM FESTIVAL

Diversions is an international short film festival initiated in 2014 in Sveti Ivan Zelina, Croatia. The festival promotes the values of auteur cinema.

In the last seven years, Diversions screened more than four hundred films from more than one hundred countries with international guests coming from Australia, Austria, China, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, and the UK.

In the side programs Diversions gathers film professionals and experts in industry panels, Q&As, workshops, and other similar activities. Diversions is a platform that experiments with other forms of creative expression.

DISFF 2021

Eight edition of the festival brings twenty-six international short films in the official selection, special anniversary retrospective of Filmmaker’s Cooperative from New York City and Doxanje: New Visions ; New Realities Industry panel. Apart from live screenings, the program will be available as VoD and through live broadcasts. Festival will be opened on July 5th with the exhibition “City as a person” by local artist and writer Marija Biljan.

RAZGOVOR S DOROM ŠUSTIĆ, PREDSJEDNICOM ŽIRIJA

UKRATKO SE PREDSTAVI, RECI NAM NEŠTO O SEBI.

Bok, ja sam Dora Šustić, scenaristica iz Rijeke. Završila sam dramaturgiju u Pragu i prije nekoliko mjeseci, od rujna živim u Zagrebu. Radim na filmskim i TV projektima kao dramaturginja, prevoditeljica i scenaristica te sam režirala nekolicinu kratkih filmova.

ŠTO TE NADAHNJUJE, OTKUDA VUČEŠ NADAHNUĆE ZA SVOJE RADOVE?

Nadahnjuju me priče iz obitelji, djetinjstva, sjećanja oca i majke te aktualne obiteljske teme. Također me nadahnjuje prijateljstvo, odnosi između prijatelja i prijateljica. Dugo sam imala fazu ženskih likova i temama koje se bave ženskom seksualnošću i odrastanjem. U zadnje vrijeme primjećujem kako mi se mijenja fokus i kako se više usmjeravam prema obiteljskoj tematici, pogotovo djetinjstvu.

DISFF JURY


IVA KRALJEVIĆ is an editor and cinematographer for documentary, animation, and experimental films with a special interest in media experiments and socially engaged topics. In her free time, she is mentoring various student film projects of all sorts and formats.

DALIJA DOZET is playing the film and with film from her earliest ages while she graduated in fiction directing on the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb. Since then she is involved as a writer and director on various auteur and commercial projects, short and feature films, and commercials. In 2016 she initiaded the “Filmska Runda” short film revue in Osijek. In her free time, she walks and thinks about the film, which makes her extremely happy and exceedingly crazy at the same time.

Rules and Regulations

1. 9th Diversions International Short Film Festival will be held from July 4th to July 7th, 2022 in Sveti Ivan Zelina, Croatia.

2. Submission is open from October 20th, 2021 to January 26th, 2022.

3. DISFF will consider short fiction, documentary, experimental, and animation up to 20 minutes in duration, with a production date between January 1st, 2021, and January 26th, 2022 for the Official Selection.

4. DISFF is open to anyone: there are no age, country of thematic limitations whatsoever. We are not impressed by awards, laurels, and fancy looks. The story brought to life matters. We don’t require premiere status.

5. From 2020 there we are back to free made exclusively through our web page. Submission is completely free of charge and we no longer accept submissions on submission platforms.

6. Submissions must be made through our online form. We will not accept submissions by email.

7. Between 25 – 35 films will be selected for screening on 9th Diversions International Short Films. A three-member selection committee will be formed to watch and select the films for festival screenings.

8. The staff will give their best to provide the conditions for live screenings and real-life festival experience.

9. The Festival will contact the selected filmmakers by email. The filmmakers with the film in the Official Selection will be invited to join us at Diversions. The festival does not cover the travel expenses.

10. International Jury will decide about the festival awards: – Diversions Grand Prix -Innovative Voice Award – Pax Diversity – Best Director – Best Cinematography – Special Mention – Audience Award The award is a wooden trophy by local designer Monika Džakić and a recognition diploma. The Jury’s decisions are final.

11. Diversions will contact selected filmmakers about the screening copies, but make sure you have: – DCP – or HQ .mp4/.mov, 1080p (clean film file) -.srt in English language

12. By submitting a film to the Diversions International Short Film Festival you agree that your materials can be used in festival promotion and your film are clear, legally secured holders are informed about the use, implementation, and exploitation of the audiovisual material in your film.

13. DISFF reserves a right to screen your film after the Festival finishes, on tour, and during special screening events. In those cases, the films will be screened in the conditions as on the festival purposes, with no admission, tickets, or such. The filmmakers will be informed about the events long enough before to discuss all the terms and conditions.

14. Once submitted, the film cannot be withdrawn.

15. By submitting a film to the Diversions International Short Film Festival filmmakers, producers, and/or distributors understand the rules and guidelines and agree to all the terms.
